Excellent base for a couple of days in Kyoto. I've stayed at Banyan Trees and at Regents and at APAs over the decades, so my evaluation is simply a function of how the hotel delivers to my expectations, and my expectations are informed by pricing, advertised services, star rating and country relativities (a 3 star in Japan is as good as a 4 star anywhere else and a 5 star in some countries). This was my first Daiwa Roynet and I expected it to be comfortable and clean and more spacious than an APA room. It delivered exactly on my expectations. I wasn't looking for a view and didn't open the window. I wasn't looking for organic muesli and so the spread they had for breakfast was more than sufficient - simplicity, variety and taste. I wasn't looking to make friends with the staff and I got the prompt professionalism I would expect at a 5 star. (I do speak some Japanese, which helps immensely.) I slept well in the bed and was happy everyday to come back to a clean room with plenty of soap and shampoo and conditioner and towels at the end of my day. The IC card-operated baggage storage after checkout was icing on the cake - super convenient.

The hotel is well located - within a 5-minute walk from Kyoto's main station / Metro Station / Bus stops. It is easy to get to any point in Kyoto. The room was clean and spacious enough (Even though it's rather awkward - to say the least - to call a Japanese hotel: spacious). Breakfast was good, and the staff attitude was good.

We loved the bountiful breakfast with both Western and Asian choices. Also the restaurant staff were very kind. A convenient location, comfortable room.

The room is nicely appointed with ample facilities and a long table to lay out traveler’s mess. The hotel gives lots of free stuff including 2 water bottles per day. Very considerate. The laundry rate is also very reasonable compared to outside stores. Very close to subway station and not far on foot to the hustle and bustle of Kyoto station.

The location was great - a short walk from Kyoto Station and lots of restaurants nearby. The room was huge and even had a massage chair! Our favourite hotel of our honeymoon trip so far 😍

Great location and much more spacious than the hotels in Tokyo! There’s a few Daiwa hotels around Kyoto station and I assume they’re all similar - you can’t go wrong with this brand. We had a stellar view of a pagoda so that was really nice to wake up to. Get the included breakfast, it was great!

The convenience to Kyoto Station has been a plus on a few stays prior to the pandemic. I was in a situation with another hotel which reluctantly agreed to hold a piece of luggage following a two night stay, during a one week absence, prior to another four night stay. Daiwa Roynet happily agreed to hold the piece of luggage for a week, if left and I booked my four night stay with them, cancelling at the other hotel. I'd previously forwarded luggage and left luggage prior to the pandemic, so they resolved my issue. I left after my four night stay and stayed elsewhere else for a few days, but wanted to add four more nights in Kyoto to my trip. So I booked a stay here again and will return later in my trip. Daiwa Roynet seemed to have a nice shine to it and was clean and tidy. The willingness to help with my luggage issue and proximity to Kyoto Station is a reason I will always consider them for time I spend in Kyoto.

Our room was a little too small, this is based on 2 other hotels we stayed in while on our trip. There was no where to unpack so we lived out of our cases. Breakfast was substantial and there was plenty of food available. The hotel was only 300 meters from the hotel and we felt very safe walking around the area.

Location: 300meters from Kyoto station. Well-connected to buses as well and close to the lifestyle district BUT on the quiet side of the area surrounding the Station. Safe for evening walk back to the hotel. Room: Adequate Size, Full Amenities, Very comfortable. EARLY CHECK-IN was approved! Daiwa Roynet Coffee is great too.
